Plateau's suck!

That dam scale! For 19 weeks I have been within the same 4 pounds. That number on the scale is magical. It can set my mood for the day or even convince me that my jeans won't fit anymore. That scale can make me feel like a failure even though I have added 3 exercise classes a week and started weight training again 3x a week. Found this little diddy on the web today, totally robbing it from some other ladies weight loss blog, just to give little credit to whomever actually wrote it.

Remember this next time you weigh yourself!
The scale weighs EVERYTHING on it....
fat, organs, bone, water, poop.....EVERYTHING!
The scale DOESN'T measure your will, how many old
habits you broke or new healthier habits you started.
It doesn't know the effort you put in at the gym and
it doesn't care.
The scale doesn't have any idea of how hard you're
trying how many times you overcame and got
"back on" when you felt like giving up all together.
It can't measure your drive or your determination.
Only you can do that.

Changes.

May 2009

(Down 26lbs from 2nd picture)
June 24, 2010
Down 39lbs :)
I am super duper hard on myself and can't seem to give myself credit for what I have accomplished. Since the last picture I am down a total of 45lbs but I only see how far I have to go instead of how far I have come? Funny how I can beat myself up at any weight. So instead of getting frustrated with summer and the fact that every other day I am faced with temptations. I have decided to continue on and not let a few fun days that include a gain here and there set me off track. In fact looking back at my weekly weigh in's I have only had 2 gain weeks all summer. August is getting crazy and I fear old habits will return, I guess I just have to push through and make wise decisions. And once in a while I have to stop myself and look at the changes I have already made. It's more obvious when I look at the pictures I posted then when I look in the mirror. And maybe I'll try a little harder to be nicer to myself.
